My Story
When I was eleven, I threw a bit of a tantrum at the Denver International Airport. My Gameboy Advance SP (the one that flipped open and had a back-light) had run out of battery, and my family's flight home was delayed three hours. I was not having it. My dad, ever the steady hand, suggested we go for a walk to the airport bookstore. I still was not having it, but a strong look from my Mom said I had to go. So off we went. I was complaining and groaning the whole way, certain that this was a huge waste of time. My dad smiled and nodded along with me. I kept my tirade going right up until I saw The Alchemyst, by Michael Scott. Apologies everyone, but I judged a book by its cover. And I liked what I saw. After my Dad generously got it for me, I was silent the rest of the delay, the flight and car ride home, and for the next few days. I was enraptured. Ever since then, it's been my mission to write stories as captivating as the one I read, to inspire the next generation of bored and frustrated kids who just need the right spark.
